Job Title: Data Governance Lead
Mode : 6 month contract + ext.
Location: Chennai
Employment Type: 6 Months Contract + Extendable.
Experience: 8–15 years
Role Overview:
The Data Governance Lead is responsible for defining, executing, and maturing the enterprise-wide data governance strategy, frameworks, and operating models. This role ensures high data quality, regulatory compliance, and consistent usage of data across the organization. Experience in BFSI is a strong value add due to industry-specific regulatory and governance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the design, rollout, and continuous enhancement of enterprise data governance frameworks.
• Establish and enforce data policies, standards, ownership models, and stewardship structures.
• Drive data quality strategy, including rules, monitoring, dashboards, and issue management.
• Oversee enterprise metadata management, data lineage initiatives, and master data governance.
• Collaborate with IT, business teams, and compliance to enable data-driven decision-making.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, RBI guidelines, ISO standards, etc.
• Lead implementation and adoption of data governance platforms (Collibra, Informatica, Alation).
• Conduct training and awareness programs across business units to strengthen governance culture.
• Manage governance KPIs, maturity assessments, and audit-readiness.
Required Skills & Experience:
• 8–15 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Enterprise Data Programs.
• Strong hands-on experience with data governance tools such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica Axon/EDC.
• Deep understanding of data quality, metadata, lineage, and master data concepts.
• Strong BFSI experience—preferably working with regulatory data, risk data, customer data, KYC, AML, or core banking systems.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership capabilities.

• Strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills to convey complex analyses to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight timelines.
• Proactive, innovative, and collaborative attitude with a passion for continuous learning.
• Experience working with BFSI compliance, governance, and risk management teams.
Good to have:
• Experience working with non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working in or with Japanese-oriented companies or clients.
• Databricks certification or equivalent cloud platform credentials (e.g., AWS/Azure/ GCP).
• Cloud/Data certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP, DAMA, Collibra) are an added advantage.
Education:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science, or a related field.
• DAMA, Collibra, or DCAM certification is preferred.
