Embedded Test Automation Engineer

Ciklum is looking for a Embedded Test Automation Engineer to join our team full-time in Slovakia.

About the role:

As a Embedded Test Automation Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow, developing and testing smart hardware and consumer electronics devices. This position is for you if you love building your own simple embedded system using ESP32, Arduino or Raspberry Pi.

Responsibilities:

• Implement new test scenarios for consumer electronics

• Use proprietary framework and test system for implementing and executing test cases

• Analyze and enhance the efficiency, stability, and scalability of the system

• Maintain and add new features into hardware test fixtures

• Automate physical interactions with device under test using external hardware test fixtures

• Troubleshoot test failures, figuring out if the issue is in the software script, the physical test rig, or a genuine bug in the device under test

• Document bugs and track test progress using tools like Jira and GitLab

Requirements:

• You understand basic electronics. You know how to read a schematic, use a multimeter, and aren't afraid to open up a device to see how it works

• You know that hardware can be unpredictable, and you know how to write software that accounts for physical delays, false sensor readings, and edge cases

• Proven background in writing automated test scripts

• Very comfortable writing Python code, including object-oriented programming

• Practical experiences with designing test cases based on user interface and software requirements documentation

• Familiar with camera-based validation, template matching, or OCR

• Experience scripting interactions with external peripherals, such as servos, automated power supplies/chargers, and microphones

• Experience with Linux/Raspberry Pi systems

• Basic experiences with developing embedded systems

• At least 3 days/week in the office in Bratislava is a must

• Understanding of Git workflow and hands-on experience

• Strong English language communication

• Technical documentation writing skills

• Ability to properly document systems functionality, code, and methodology

• Ability to describe and present results clearly, answer questions, and communicate issues

Desirable:

• Experience with AI agents, (eg. Copilot, Github skills)

• Experiences with industry automation

• General knowledge of agile methodologies

Personal skills:

• Working well autonomously, without close supervision, readiness to take responsibility

• Being committed to timely delivery of quality results

The salary starts from 3000 Euro gross. The final salary depends on the previous experience and professional knowledge of the candidate.
