Role Description

We are seeking an exceptional Team Lead for a full-time, on-site role located in the Tel Aviv District, Israel. As a senior technical leader in our small, fast-moving startup, you will help set the technical vision, build and mentor the engineering team, and remain deeply hands-on across both front-end and back-end of our cutting-edge AI platform. You will architect scalable systems, drive the product roadmap together with the founders, establish engineering culture and best practices, and personally ship critical features when needed. This role is ideal for a builder who thrives on wearing multiple hats, moves fast without breaking things, and wants outsized impact on a company shaping the future of cyber risk management.

Responsibilities

• Lead, hire, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team

• Define technical strategy, architecture, and long-term roadmap in partnership with the founders and product

• Stay hands-on: write production code, review PRs, and unblock the team

• Own end-to-end delivery - from system design through deployment, monitoring, and iteration

• Establish engineering processes, standards, and culture appropriate for a scaling startup

• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, sales, and customer success

• Make pragmatic build-vs-buy and prioritization calls with limited resources

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading engineering teams, ideally as a Team Lead, Tech Lead, Engineering Manager, or VP R&D in an early-stage or growth-stage startup

• Track record of hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers

• Strong hands-on full-stack background — back-end and API design plus modern front-end JavaScript frameworks

• Experience owning architecture decisions for production systems at scale

• Solid debugging skills and deep experience across the full software development lifecycle

• Hands-on experience integrating LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) into production systems

• Experience building AI-powered features such as classification, summarization, or recommendation systems

• Familiarity with prompt engineering and evaluation of LLM outputs

• Experience with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS) and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures

• Understanding of embeddings, semantic search, and context management

• Experience designing scalable pipelines for AI inference and data processing

• Familiarity with model monitoring, evaluation, and performance optimization

• Strong product sense and the ability to translate business goals into technical execution

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with founders, customers, and cross-functional partners

• Startup mindset: bias for action, comfort with ambiguity, and willingness to roll up your sleeves on whatever the company needs

Nice to Have

• Prior experience as a founding engineer, founder, or first technical hire

• Experience with AI-driven platforms or in the cybersecurity / risk management domains

• Experience integrating AI with structured and unstructured security data sources

• Experience scaling engineering teams from a handful to dozens of engineers
