We are seeking a strategic Financial Controller to own the close and regulatory compliance processes for our entity in Morocco. As the Financial Controller, you will have the opportunity to provide thought leadership and accounting expertise to support strategic decision-making in local accounting and compliance matters. You will leverage your deep knowledge of local compliance requirements to support treasury and tax planning.

Responsibilities

• Use your deep understanding of cash repatriation rules and regulations to partner with Treasury and Tax to support cash repatriation and tax planning.

• Perform month-, quarter-, and year-end close and financial reporting under U.S. and local GAAP, and ensure compliance with local statutory accounting, tax, cash repatriation and other regulatory requirements.

• Own local statutory audits and ensure appropriate attention to regulatory changes in the local jurisdiction.

• Own general ledger management, account reconciliations, flux analysis, and global adherence to internal controls; own entity deliverable for global audit.

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives for regulatory operations and close process, focusing on automation, documentation, scalability, and standardization

• Identify and resolve operational inefficiencies, accounting issues, and regulatory risks with a proactive, data-driven mindset. Have a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP accounting principles and the differences between U.S. and local GAAP rules.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience working in international companies with complex operations, which needed to repatriate cash out of Morocco.

• Proven experience of owning month-, quarter- and year-end close processes under local and U.S. GAAP, focused on timeliness, accuracy, robust documentation of standard operating procedures, adherence to internal controls and cross-functional collaboration.

• Treasury experience is a strong plus.

• Proven experience of successfully collaborating with cross-functional teams such as treasury, reporting, tax, shared services and FP&A.

• A builder’s mindset focused on constant improvement, a proven track record of reducing the number of days to close, and bringing efficiencies to the close and compliance processes by focusing on the use of technology, standardization of processes and talent development.

• Strong organizational and prioritization skills, and being comfortable with ambiguity and working in fast-paced, remote-first, high-productivity and multicultural environments.

• An authorized public accounting licence such as Chartered Accountant or equivalent.
