About Layer
Layer is on a mission to bring a new medium of contemporary fine art to life, and see artists paid. We collaborate with the world’s leading digital artists to curate a continuous stream of living, evolving work, brought to life on the first museum-grade Canvas built for digital art.
Role Overview
At Layer, operations are part of the art. We’re looking for a highly organized, relationship-driven operator to lead Operations & Deployment — the person who keeps everything, and everyone, moving.
You’ll oversee the rollout of Layer Canvas systems to collectors, galleries, and commercial spaces, ensuring every installation is museum-grade, on time, and on brand. This is a critical role for someone who sees logistics not as background work, but as an extension of the creative experience: a seamless blend of beauty, precision, and process.
You’ll bring structure and clarity to cross-functional initiatives, managing everything from production timelines to vendor relationships. It’s a builder’s role: part strategy, part sleeves-rolled-up execution, with excellence as the only standard.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee end-to-end deployment of Layer units to collectors, partners, and commercial venues worldwide.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, and logistics partners to ensure smooth, on-time installations.
• Own the quality of every installation (ensuring wall mounts are level, wiring is invisible, and the final presentation meets museum-grade standards).
• Coordinate internal teams (hardware, software, design, marketing, and sales) through project timelines, Gantt charts, and milestone tracking.
• Manage administrative operations including HR workflows (via Rippling), contract coordination, and internal documentation.
• Support legal and finance teams in executing agreements, onboarding vendors, and maintaining compliance records.
• Anticipate roadblocks and keep projects moving forward through clear communication, planning, and follow-through.
• Develop scalable systems and processes to improve efficiency as the company grows.
Ideal Candidate
• You’re a natural organizer who thrives in fast-moving, dynamic environments.
• You build strong relationships and communicate with confidence and clarity.
• You love turning complexity into order — spreadsheets, checklists, and Gantt charts are your second language.
• You take pride in craft. Whether it’s a mounted display or a presentation deck, the details matter to you — alignment, finish, and follow-through.
• You understand the rhythm of physical deployment — how to coordinate vendors, installers, and clients to achieve consistent, high-quality results.
• You’re equally comfortable in a gallery, a construction site, or a boardroom.
• You’re proactive, hands-on, and comfortable switching between high-level strategy and day-to-day execution.
• You’re excited by the idea of helping build a company from the ground up — systems, culture, and all.
Qualifications
• 6+ years of experience in operations, deployment, or project management, ideally involving physical installations (hardware, design, architecture, or experiential environments).
• Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects with a high attention to detail.
• Aesthetic and spatial sensitivity (you notice alignment, lighting, and the small details that elevate a space).
• Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
• Experience managing vendors, installers, or technical contractors.
• Experience with project management tools (Asana, Notion, or similar).
• Comfort working with HR and legal systems (e.g. Rippling, Docusign, Gusto).
• A balance of strategic foresight and day-to-day execution drive.
What Success Looks Like
• Installations are delivered on time, on budget, and at a consistent quality bar.
• Operational systems and playbooks replace scramble, enabling the team to scale installs without chaos.
• Communication is clear, proactive, and trusted by clients and partners.
Compensation
• Competitive base salary range: $120K–$140K USD.
• Stock options in a rapidly growing art and technology company.
• Performance bonus tied to impact.
• Health benefits and travel opportunities.
