Role summary
Maintenance Mechanic, Facilities III is responsible for executing maintenance, repair, and optimization of the facility’s infrastructure, with a strong focus on HVAC systems and energy-related assets (including solar systems), as well as plumbing, electrical systems, DC and general building repairs and remodeling activities. This role operates with minimal supervision, applying advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis to identify issues and determine appropriate technical solutions.
This role performs skilled trades work, including carpentry, painting, and minor construction activities related to the repair or alteration of structures such as walls, roofs, and office fixtures. The position supports the installation, maintenance, and repair of building plumbing and electrical systems required for operational and production processes, working closely with manufacturing or process engineering when needed, and providing technical guidance to less experienced technicians as required.
The technician conducts periodic and special inspections of facilities to proactively identify maintenance needs, works from blueprints, technical drawings, and sketches, and ensures proper execution of assigned tasks. Additionally, the role provides technical oversight of contractors on-site, verifying quality, compliance, and adherence to technical standards.
This is a hands-on, technical role, working collaboratively with the Facilities team, EHS, Security, and external vendors to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient building operations, minimizing downtime and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This role contributes to operational excellence by ensuring infrastructure reliability, regulatory compliance, and a high-quality workplace environment for employees.
Key Responsibilities
Role expectations
• Perform maintenance on HVAC systems (chillers, AHUs, splits, VRF, ventilation, UPS, CRV), mechanical and basic electrical systems, and building infrastructure including plumbing, fixtures, and minor construction activities.
• Identify root causes of equipment issues, applying advanced troubleshooting to ensure timely resolution and minimal operational disruption.
• Conduct inspections, monitor system performance, and perform basic troubleshooting of solar panel systems to ensure efficiency and reliability.
• Execute assigned work orders and document activities in systems (e.g., I Office / Happy or Not), while performing periodic inspections to proactively identify maintenance needs, risks, or required repairs.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications; coordinate and provide technical oversight to contractors on-site, ensuring quality, compliance, and adherence to standards.
• Participate in infrastructure-related projects (installations, upgrades, remodeling), ensure compliance with EHS standards (including LOTO, work at heights, and electrical safety), and contribute to energy efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with ISO 50001.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
What we're looking for
Typically:
• Technical Degree in a related field (Technical or Vocational School, or Instituto Nacional de Aprendizaje).
• Typically, 2–4 years of related experience.
• Solid knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, and UPS.
• Proficiency using Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Building Management Systems (BMS), technical documentation, and digital tools.
• Ability to manage spare parts inventory and consumables related to infrastructure maintenance.
• HVAC certification (preferred).
• LOTO and electrical safety training (required).
• English proficiency is desirable for this position.
