Job Summary
• We are hiring a Power Electronics Design & Validation Engineer to lead the design, development, tuning, integration, and validation of high-voltage, high-power propulsion inverter systems for next-generation eVTOL platforms. The role involves end-to-end ownership of propulsion inverter hardware, motor control algorithms, system integration, controller tuning, verification & validation, and powertrain testing activities. You will work on 600–1000V class electric propulsion systems involving SiC-based inverters, high-speed electric motors, thermal management, EMI/EMC, functional safety, and aircraft-level powertrain integration. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in power electronics design, motor control, system-level validation, and hardware/software integration for aerospace or high-performance EV applications.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the architecture, design, development, and validation of high-voltage propulsion inverter systems for eVTOL applications.
• Design and optimize high-power inverter hardware including DC-link capacitors, gate drivers, busbars, current sensing, protection circuits, and SiC/MOSFET power stages.
• Develop motor control strategies including FOC, MTPA, field weakening, torque control, regenerative braking, and fault management.
• Perform controller tuning and calibration for propulsion motors under dynamic flight operating conditions.
• Conduct simulation and modelling activities using MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, LTspice, PSIM, or similar tools for inverter and motor drive systems.
• Define and execute verification & validation plans for propulsion inverters, motor controllers, and integrated electric powertrain systems.
• Support HIL, SIL, MIL, and dyno-based testing activities for propulsion systems and perform correlation between simulation and experimental results.
• Lead system integration activities involving motors, batteries, BMS, thermal systems, avionics interfaces, and aircraft power distribution systems.
• Develop and validate fault detection, diagnostics, derating logic, redundancy management, and fail-safe operation strategies.
• Perform EMI/EMC analysis, grounding strategy development, and high-voltage insulation coordination.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, thermal, controls, embedded software, systems engineering, and certification teams.
• Support compliance activities for aerospace standards including DO-160, DO-254, DO-178C, ARP4754A, and functional safety requirements.
• Generate technical documentation including design reports, test procedures, DVPRs, qualification reports, and certification artifacts.
• Support prototype bring-up, debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis during development and testing phases.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• 5+ years of industry experience in high-voltage power electronics, electric propulsion, or motor drive system development.
• Strong experience in designing high-power inverters using SiC MOSFETs or IGBTs for automotive, aerospace, or industrial applications.
• Proficiency in motor control development and tuning including FOC, torque control, and field weakening algorithms.
• Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, LTspice, PSIM, or equivalent simulation environments.
• Experience in controller validation, dyno testing, system debugging, and propulsion system integration.
• Strong understanding of HV safety, thermal management, EMC/EMI mitigation, and electrical protection strategies.
• Knowledge of embedded systems, real-time control implementation, CAN communication, and data acquisition systems.
• Experience in verification & validation methodologies including SIL, HIL, MIL, and hardware testing.
