Overall purpose of role
Manage multiple projects as a Lead Engineer, ensuring that design deliverables are completed on time and within the approved budget while demonstrating a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental responsibility. Oversee the production of high-quality design outputs, ensure compliance with contractual requirements, and review and approve material requisitions, data sheets, and technical bid evaluations to support successful project execution.
Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities
• Assist the discipline manager in managing the discipline and leading the team.
• Lead the structural discipline for assigned project(s), ensuring quality and timely delivery of design outputs.
• Plan activities, assign work, schedule tasks, and monitor progress to ensure adherence to project timelines.
• Coordinate with internal departments, clients, audit and inspection agencies, and other engineering disciplines as required.
• Interface with assistant managers and other departments to integrate up-to-date inputs into design deliverables.
• Provide technical guidance on material engineering, including preparation of purchase specifications, purchase requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and vendor document review.
• Estimate manpower requirements, plan workloads, and ensure effective utilization of resources.
• Ensure compliance with recognized engineering practices and maintain high technical quality of work.
• Provide technical support and guidance to engineers and designers, including conducting training and orientation sessions.
• Attend project review, design review, and 3D model review meetings as needed.
• Monitor and review design changes, issuing revision orders promptly when required.
• Take ownership of deliverables and ensure appropriate quality checks are performed before release.
• Conduct internal quality audits as instructed by the discipline manager.
• Identify training needs, propose design improvements, and document lessons learned.
• Keep the discipline manager informed on project progress and report with agreed periodicity.
• Monitor budget compliance related to the production of design deliverables.
Attainment
Education: BSc/BTech in Civil or Structural Engineering; MSc/MTech is an advantage.
Experience: Minimum 15 years in offshore oil and gas facilities or drilling rigs, preferably with a major construction yard, EPC contractor, or consultant.
Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of international codes and standards relevant to structural engineering.
Skills: Experience in preparing specifications, conducting technical evaluations, and reviewing vendor documentation.
