Requirements :
• BS/BA or equivalent degree preferably in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Supply Chain Management or Procurement.
• Total of 5 or more years of progressive responsibility for commodity management and manufacturing standards in a multifaceted, high precision high volume, complex product mix manufacturing environment utilizing modern manufacturing systems software and techniques.
• Professional Certifications: Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) and ISM knowledge required, certifications preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and specifications on drawings is required.
• Experience with global commodity management activities, procurement and purchasing in a global economy level.
• Experience in manufacturing systems, BOM, MRP scheduling/planning techniques, with strong knowledge of demand planning is required.
• Oracle and SAP working knowledge desired.
• Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills including SPC.
• Material requirements planning and distribution requirements.
• Experience in determining both high precision machine and high craft, workforce capacities.
• Excellent written/verbal English skills
Responsibilities :
• To manage the global activities for different commodities in the machined components category worldwide for Coherent Corporation and to assess and develop suppliers to generate the most value for the organization.
• Develop, refine and continuously improve the supplier base for a specific commodity to ensure highest levels of customer service consistent with sound inventory policies while working to control costs for purchased components sourced from third party suppliers.
• Ensure proper monitoring of supplier database, accuracy of GEP spend data and supplier taxonomy, maintain a minimum required number of suppliers in the ASL and continue to aggregate and reduce the supplier base to minimum number of suppliers required for the commodity.
• Responsible for accurate and timely communication, reporting and analysis for the commodity management process.
• Devises ways and means to maximize commodity buying efficiency and minimize supply risk.
• Helps develop and manage pricing strategies and cost savings initiatives.
• Initiates contracts (MSA) and facilitates supplier qualification/disqualification and pricing negotiations.
• Holds required SBR with top spend suppliers yearly or more often and continues to search globally for best value suppliers for Coherent Corporation.
Working Conditions
• This role is either office work or home office work.
• Willing to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
