This role offers the opportunity to design, build, and maintain robust web applications while working directly with clients and cross-functional teams. You will have ownership over end-to-end software development, including feature implementation, architecture decisions, and technical debt remediation. The position also includes mentoring junior engineers and contributing to internal best practices to elevate team performance. This is a highly collaborative, remote-first environment where your work directly impacts client success and the evolution of software consulting practices. Accountabilities:
• Architect, develop, and maintain web applications using Ruby on Rails and React
• Engage directly with clients to gather feedback, demonstrate features, and align on solutions
• Review and refactor legacy applications to address technical debt and improve scalability
• Participate in code reviews, ensuring high-quality standards across the team
• Contribute to internal documentation, templates, and best practices to enhance consulting effectiveness
• Support agile development processes including stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, fostering growth and technical excellence
• Collaborate on thought leadership initiatives such as blogs, webinars, and marketing materials
Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience building web applications with strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails and React or equivalent frameworks
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of features and projects
• Experience scoping and estimating individual features and full software projects
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to align with clients and internal teams
• Strong unit testing and debugging skills (RSpec/Minitest, Jest/RTL)
• Proficient with version control systems (Git) and API design (REST/GraphQL)
• Knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL), background jobs (Sidekiq/Active Job), and scalable design principles
• Understanding of accessibility and security compliance requirements
• Nice to have: experience with DevOps tools (AWS, Terraform, Docker) and observability platforms (Sentry, Datadog, Grafana)
