Powell is a manufacturer of switchgear and other electrical equipment. We are seeking a Senior Material Coordinator for our location in Southeast Houston! Four 10s Schedule: Mon-Thurs 6:00am-4:30pm.
Position Summary
Records and maintains control of all inventory items purchased and produced. Ensures compliance with established internal control procedures. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. May work under general supervision to complete job requirements. A degree of creativity and latitude is required to effectively perform the job.
Essential Responsibilities
• Material handling related to receiving, picking, material organization & shipping
• Daily Oracle transactions to maintain system reliability
• Daily internal customer service related to project fullfillment
• Will utilize forklifts, cranes and scissor lifts to load, unload and deliver materials
• Regular communication via email with internal and external stakeholders
• Willing to take direction and execute plan with minimal supervision
• Maintain quality records related to shipping documentation
• Meeting deadlines related to on time kit and on time delivery
• Performs weekly cycle counts
• Responsible for daily Oracle transactions to align with completed tasks
• Maintaining warehouse inventory accuracy and material movement processes
• Analyze cycle count adjustments to develop root cause and countermeasures
• Execute and audit daily activities of material handling
• Implement process improvement plans
• Execution of countermeasures to eliminate inventory errors
• Audits stock locations daily to ensure orders will arrive on time to meet production requirements
• Must learn and adhere to all safety policies and practices to avoid safety incidents.
• Must learn and adhere to all manufacturing policies and practices to ensure consistent production.
Minimum Qualifications
• A minimum education level of a High School Diploma is required.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Forklift experience required
• Previous experience in Switchgear units is considered an asset.
• Ability to read a tape measure (including conversions from fraction to decimal and conversely from decimal to fraction and metric to imperial).
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
• Capable of working in a fast-paced manufacturing atmosphere
• Ability to learn computer systems, databases and variety of software programs
Skills, Abilities & Other Requirements
• Knowledge of machines and tools including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
• Prior ability or interest in building or repairing mechanical components considered an asset.
• Safety training certificates are an asset for the position.
• Basic mechanical knowledge
• Knowledge of air tools
• Previous experience in an industrial or warehouse setting
Working & Environmental Conditions
Working Conditions
• Safety sensitive position in an industrial environment with regular outside activities.
• Required to always wear personnel protective equipment (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, steel toe boots, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when required.
• Must be able to work from all type of ladders (step ladders, "A" frame ladders and all size extension ladders) and scaffolding.
• Working at heights usually no higher than 30 feet in the air or using proper lift equipment.
Physical Requirements
• Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.
• Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner continuously.
• Continuous standing, walking 50–300-foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting.
• Must be able to climb stairs frequently throughout the shift.
• Able to frequently work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length.
• Using upper extremities to apply or exert a force continuously up to 50lbs.
• Ability to use hand tools such as tin snips, hammer, and power tools (some vibrating), for long periods of time with frequent repetition.
