As a Staff Engineer at Tejas Networks, you will drive the validation and automation strategy for our high-performance routing portfolio. You will serve as the technical lead for modern transport technologies, specifically focusing on the transition from legacy MPLS to Segment Routing (SR-MPLS) and SRv6. This role requires a leader who can design complex network topologies, automate them using Python, and perform deep-dive analysis into protocol-level failures.
Responsibilities
• Protocol Leadership: Lead the test strategy for next-generation routing features, with a primary focus on Segment Routing (SR) and SRv6 (Segment Routing over IPv6).
• Automation Architecture: Design and optimize Python-based automation frameworks to validate SR/SRv6 policies, TI-LFA (Topology-Independent Loop-Free Alternate), and network slicing.
• Test Lifecycle Management: Create, execute, and manage high-scale test plans for L2/L3 protocols including BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, and MPLS.
• Failure Analysis & Debugging: Take ownership of analyzing complex failures. Use your expertise to perform root-cause analysis (RCA) by investigating system logs, FIB/LFIB tables, and packet captures.
• Performance & Scale: Conduct high-scale stress testing using IXIA/Spirent to validate the control plane and data plane performance of SRv6 endpoints.
• Mentorship: Guide junior engineers in developing robust test cases and high-quality Python code.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in Networking Domain testing with a focus on L2/L3 Routing.
• Protocol Mastery:
• Advanced L3: Deep knowledge of OSPF, IS-IS, and BGP (specifically extensions for Segment Routing).
• Segment Routing: In-depth understanding of SR-MPLS and SRv6 architectures, including SIDs (uSID), LFA/TI-LFA, and Traffic Engineering (SR-TE).
• L2 Mastery: Strong experience with VLANs, xSTP, and L2VPN/EVPN.
• Expert Python Automation: 7+ years of experience writing production-grade Python scripts for network automation (e.g., PyTest, Netmiko, or Scapy).
• Hardware Tools: Expert-level proficiency with IXIA (IxNetwork) or Spirent for simulating SRv6 traffic and validating scale.
• Analysis Tools: Mastery of Wireshark for decoding SRH (Segment Routing Header) and other protocol extensions.
