Mission
To architect and lead Groq's structured finance strategy, designing and executing the non-dilutive capital programs that fund our global compute and data center buildout while evolving our existing debt structure to align with Groq's long-term growth strategy.
Location: Remote, US
Responsibilities & opportunities in this role:
• Design and own Groq's structured finance and debt capital strategy, aligning capital structure with our compute buildout, customer contracts, and long-range operating plan
• Lead origination, structuring, negotiation, and execution of asset-backed facilities, equipment and project financings, warehouse lines, ABS/private placements, and hybrid debt structures collateralized by LPU compute infrastructure and customer contracts
• Build and manage relationships with banks, private credit funds, infrastructure investors, ABS investors, ECAs, and other strategic capital providers
• Partner directly with the CEO, CFO, and Board to translate operating plans into financeable structures and investor-ready narratives
• Lead day-to-day management of debt facilities, including draw mechanics, borrowing base administration, covenant compliance, reporting, and lender relations
• Build the financial models, frameworks, and analytics required to evaluate, structure, and monitor structured financings, including cash flow projections, covenant forecasting, and capital structure optimization
• Partner with Treasury and FP&A on interest rate and FX risk management, liquidity planning, and balance sheet strategy
• Work cross-functionally with Legal, Tax, Accounting, FP&A, and Data Center Operations to ensure financing structures are operationally, contractually, and accounting-sound
• Stand up the internal capital markets function from the ground up — including processes, controls, documentation standards, and ultimately team — to support a rapidly scaling debt platform
• Support broader corporate finance initiatives including capital structure optimization, rating agency engagement (as applicable), and ad-hoc strategic transactions
Ideal candidates have/are:
• 10+ years of progressive experience in structured finance, capital markets, treasury, private credit, or structured finance investment banking, with a meaningful portion in-house at an operating company
• Demonstrated track record leading complex asset-backed and structured debt financings at scale — ABS issuance, warehouse facilities, project finance, secured corporate facilities, or hybrid structures
• Experience financing capital-intensive or specialty asset classes (e.g., data centers/compute, infrastructure, equipment, mortgage/MSR, energy, transportation, or specialty finance) and translating asset cash flows into financeable structures
• Proven ability to build a capital markets function from scratch — establishing lender relationships, structuring inaugural facilities, and building the supporting infrastructure
• Strong existing relationships with banks, private credit funds, and structured debt investors
• Deep fluency in debt covenants, borrowing base mechanics, intercreditor dynamics, and the operational realities of managing a complex debt stack
• Strong financial modeling skills, including cash flow projections, covenant forecasting, and capital structure analysis
• Working knowledge of interest rate and FX hedging, SOX controls, and debt covenant compliance and reporting
• Excellent communication and executive presence, with experience presenting to CFOs, CEOs, Boards, and sophisticated institutional investors
• Strategic operator who can move between high-level strategy and hands-on execution in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment
• Bachelor's degree required; MBA, CFA, FRM, or equivalent advanced credentials strongly preferred
• Highest level of integrity, discretion, and judgment when handling sensitive financial and strategic information
