The Women in Technology Program
To develop female employees in a field that historically has been dominated by men, Essity has been running the Women in Technology(WIT) program since 2015. The four-month program for female employees in Essity IT contains motivating sessions, practical exercises for soft skills development, inspirational senior colleagues' examples, networking and sessions from Essity top management. Since the beginning of the program the number of female line managers in Essity IT has more than doubled and amajority of the former participants have taken on new career opportunities. As of 2020, the popular program has been expanded to other parts of the organization.

I now have increased awareness on how gender impact leadership strategies, management of teams, difficult conversations, negotiations, and office politics –real eye openers. One year ago, Katarina Mannerfelt participated in the WIT program, something that has helped her develop as a leader and also made her interested in coaching. Katarina joined Essity in 2008 and is based in Gothenburg, Sweden. In her role, she explores innovative technologies for an optimal learning experience, works to improve the demand process for new tools and on digitalizing shopfloor colleagues.
