The role of Senior Associate Digital Product Management, Enterprise Payments is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to support the management and development of our global payments processing network.
The incumbent will assist Enterprise Critical Multi Year Initiatives and Line of Business funded initiatives aimed at improving how payment products are built and delivered at American Express. The Senior Associate Product Manager, will collaborate closely with Business, and Technology to deliver product enhancements for our Payments Network.
Responsibilities
• Support the delivery of new Network Clearing, Pricing and Settlement capabilities
• Support the creation and maintenance of a backlog
• Translate complex business requirements into detailed User stories as part of the capability and feature landscape, working closely with engineering teams and other platform teams where there are dependencies
• User story creation, refinement and sign off , making sure outcomes are met
• Planning preparation and fulfillment of PI planning objectives in support of Agile and SAFe practices
• Identify and communicate risks to work that is in-flight, and provide viable alternatives to mitigate those risks
• Partner with peers and leadership to improve Agile working practices, improving throughout and maximising the delivery of value
• Foster and contribute to a culture of ownership and collaboration by adopting a mindset of doing whatever it takes to make the team successful
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
• Skill in prioritisation of demand and owning a backlog of work
• Skill in identifying gaps - requirements/user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog of work completeness
• Ability to detect missing scenarios, edge cases, and identifying non-functional requirements such as system performance/availability and SLAs
• Ability to consider, design and embed appropriate risk management controls into all our processes and capabilities
• Ability to effectively engage with engineering teams, follow technical discussions, and challenge solutions constructively when misaligned with product intent or customer needs
• Being passionate about the product, advocating the vison to inspire the scrum team and stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience of performing a Product Owner role with an Engineering Scrum team, managing their backlog of work and delivery priorities
• Certified SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM), CSPO, or equivalent certification.
